R.I.P: Hunter S Thompson
So I last posted the day before my birthday...

"We do have confirmation that Hunter Thompson was found dead this evening of an apparent self-inflicted wound," said Tricia Louthis, spokeswoman for the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday night.

It's sad that my first post of 2005 happens to be about the death of someone who has been one of the biggest influences on my work.

I was blown away when I first read Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas way back in 1995, I consequently read Fear & Loathing On The Campaign Trial '72 during the 1997 election campaign, the year Labour came to power in the UK.

Saw a recent collection of his works the other day and wondered what the mad ol' Duke had been up to recently. It's funny, but I never could picture him just dying of old age.
