Been a long time...
Almost six months since I wrote something for this. In between commissions for 'Nanas & Custard and a Toxic videogame cheats magazine, Matt Yeo's politely been asking when I'm going to write something else for Flak Jacket. Put on the spot, I always say 'sure, I'll put something together over the weekend'. But that was two months ago.

Problem is, I've been trying to rethink the purpose of this site/column. I'm under no illusions that this is by no means a widely read site. It's more of a writing exercise, a way of getting thoughts on paper/screen. Never been one to keep a diary, although I've always liked the idea.

Hmm, kind of like what PJ Holden's been doing with his blog (www.pauljholden.com). It's a personal diary of his rise from amateur to professional comic artist. Which is kind of what I think I want this to be for me.

It's been a funny year as far as the writing has gone. A few more commissions from the Black Library have been rewarding and educational, but the learning curve has taken a steep rise of late with regular work in the form of the spoof one-page superhero nonsense of 'Nanas & Custard. And then there's the first 2000AD commission - a Past Imperfect. Weird. AD has always been the Holy Grail, I've sent countless submissions over almost 10 years (all of which have arguably been shite), so it was a shock when Tharg finally said yes. Which reminds me, I need to fill out that commission form tomorrow and sort out an invoice. Oh, and then I need to follow it up!
